Message from Erik Kramer

Hi all,

Due to some personal and family matters that have demanded much of my energy and attention over the past year, I've decided to take some time away from coaching quarterbacks. I do not plan coaching again before next January, 2012. That means I do not expect to run the spring-time quarterback/receiver camp this year or train quarterbacks individually. Coaching, for me, requires total commitment, clear focus, and peace of mind. And, at the moment, I just don't have them in me. Consequently, I need some time away. I will update my status on the website sometime in April.

All my best,
Erik Kramer

Erik’s passion and hunger to understand the game were the building blocks for his success in the NFL. His story of determination and perseverance serves as a great example for quarterbacks on any level. Erik’s rare intangible qualities now serve as the foundation for his unique ability to teach quarterbacks the way few can.

Despite having a successful college career at Arizona State, I knew there were areas of my game I needed to improve in order to be successful at the next level. No matter who you are, Tiger Woods, whoever, we as players need someone to help us identify and improve in those areas in order to reach the top. After working with Erik, I can't imagine a better coach to help raise the level of my game. He understands what it takes to play in the NFL. More importantly, he knows how to teach it. Preparing for my first mini-camp with the Dallas Cowboys, Erik gave me what I needed to be prepared and successful.

Working with Erik for these 6 weeks, I discovered a part of the quarterback world I never knew existed. My efficiency, accuracy and timing have all improved dramatically. And I'm starting to see and understand the game as never before. Erik is a true teacher. I’m now even more excited about my quarterbacking future in the NFL.

Coach Kramer is not only a great coach, but an amazing mentor. I began taking lessons from coach a year ago and I immediately knew that it was right for me. Right from the beginning I knew that I was in the right hands to become a better quarterback, athlete and person. We began working on fundamentals and everything I was taught, from staying balanced throughout my throw to finishing with everything in line was constructive toward becoming the best quarterback I could be. Coach Kramer knew how to relate to me and easily explain different points that I needed to duplicate in order to progress. By the start of the season, we also went over all of my game tapes, as well as our practice tapes and NFL tapes in order to grasp the game on a whole other level. Coach broke down frame by frame, each film and pointed out the plus points and the down points of the form of the throws, decision making on throws and reading defenses. This was probably the most important thing for me because it helped me to understand the game more than I ever thought I could. Going up to varsity and starting as a sophomore was a great accomplishment for me. However, it would not have happened without Coach Kramer. He taught me what I needed to know in order to become not only a winner but a leader as well. He gave me the confidence in my throwing ability and decision-making ability on the field, so that I could be successful. I know how valuable he is to me and what he can accomplish with anyone he trains. He is my mentor now and I believe I will train under him as long as I am playing football.

Erik Kramer’s 8 week Sunday camp is the best camp I have ever attended. My throwing mechanics improved drastically which gave me the ability to be more accurate. It also aided me in reading defenses. I have more confidence in where and how I am throwing the ball, and when I should scramble. His camp was one of the factors that helped me throw for 3,000 yards and score 40 touchdowns my senior year.

I have been training with Coach Kramer since I was eleven years old. The reason I have continued to train with him throughout the years is because of his outstanding ability to teach throwing mechanics and many other skills. He teaches in a way that it is easily comprehended and applied. He has really helped me progress to a higher level throughout my career.

I have been very fortunate to have worked with Coach Kramer since I was 10. Each year he has helped me to improve my skills and mechanics, as well as further my understanding of the game. He first taught me that you need to be a leader to play Quarterback. You have to be the one that your team looks to for reassurance. Through the years, I have improved my mechanics tremendously because of Coach Kramer. He taught me how to use my hips and lower body to get more power into my throws. From the beginning of my throw to the end, he showed me that balance is a key component in great mechanics and accuracy. Besides mechanics, he also taught me how to read defenses and coverages. One of the most important things Coach Kramer taught me was to take what the defense gives you. Taking what the defense gave me led me to success; it allowed me to make smart decisions and to not force throws. Going over 7-on-7 and game film with Coach Kramer was invaluable. Breaking down defenses helped me understand the weaknesses of each coverage. Coach Kramer is a very knowledgeable teacher. He encourages hustle, hard work and commitment. He has been a great mentor and role model and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with him. I plan to continue to learn from him and train with him as I pursue my dream of playing at the college level.

I just recently attended the Stanford Nike Training Camp and had the time of my life! Where 300 of the best high school athletes competed in several Sparq drills, including one on one passing competition.

Everything you and Curtis Conway told me and taught me came true! You both taught me that if I put in the hard work and used the techniques taught at your camp, I would give myself the opportunity to compete at any level I wanted. I used every technique you guys taught me and it helped me push myself to the front of the pack. It allowed me to get noticed by many college coaches at the Nike Training Camp.

I was having so much fun, leading defenders, turning hips and running routes that allowed me so much separation! You and Curtis gave me the tools and knowledge, I thank you both so much!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and Curtis Conway for encouraging, teaching, and motivating Connor at each and every training session. Connor and I have been to many different camps and they have offered some good training, but I have to say that there is something special about your training camps! I have seen first hand, you and Curtis take an athlete from their first day of training having many challenges to over come! Within a very short period of time, these same athletes looking like they had been training for years!

Parents are always questioning their decisions on which is the right training camp, who is the right individual trainer for my son? How much money should I be spending for this training? After years of searching, I finally found the answer, with the Erik Kramer Camp! I saw the difference right before my eyes, giving my son the ability to create more separation, getting off the line quicker, reading the defense, running cleaner and smarter routes!

What impressed me the most was the emphasis on education and just being an overall good person!

Thank you for the life long memories you have given my son, Connor!

Offensive Coordinator – Chicago Bears

As a player for the Chicago Bears, Erik Kramer was one of the most cerebral football players I have ever seen over the course of my 30 year coaching career.  Football is a sport that requires people to find an edge to be successful, especially on the professional level.  Erik truly understood this and made himself a top NFL Quarterback with his ability to master the techniques and fundamentals of the position.   Erik also separated himself from the competition with his mental approach to the game.  Erik always had great foresight both on and off the field and his preparation and mental approach mimicked that of a coach.  As a passer Erik was an extremely accurate and efficient Quarterback because he had and still has a rare understanding of human physiology as it relates to the QB position.

Since the time I coached Erik I have shown countless young Quarterbacks his game film to let them see an example of “how to” play the position the correct way with efficiency and fluid body movement.  Both of my sons became students of Erik while playing Quarterback in high school and I still use Erik’s game film to teach my youngest son, Cameron, who is currently playing QB on the collegiate level.

As a person Erik is a man of great integrity, character and passion.  His passion is evident in all he does and he is clearly one of the most passionate people I have ever been around when it comes to the game of football!  He is an excellent communicator and teacher and he truly cares about the success of his players and the people he works with.  I more than confident that through working with Erik young people will not only become better players, but they will also gain an understanding of what it takes mentally to be a great player on any level of competition.

Erik’s 8 week camp and individual sessions improved my skills drastically.  I want to thank both Erik and Curtis for all of the work they have done with me.  They both go the extra mile to do anything to make the quarterbacks and receivers better.  Along with his work with me on the field, Erik also stressed the work off the field, especially watching film.  Throughout the whole 8 weeks Erik held film sessions of high school and NFL films.  I think this helped me just as much as the Sunday sessions.  It was great to see what each defensive coverage looked like from a bird’s eye view.  The film sessions definitely helped me with the 7 on 7 drills.  On every play I knew exactly where to go.  Erik also taught me things about my release and throwing motion that I would have never even thought about.  Everything he said made so much sense.  Once I used the  pointers that Erik gave me I added at least 5 more yards to my deep ball and saw more zip on every throw.  During my school’s spring practices,  I have realized that I have never thrown better before in my life.  Thanks again Erik and Curtis for everything you have done.

Erik has helped my son Zach put everything together to be the best quarterback he can be.  His attention to detail and the way he stresses the basic fundamentals have made a huge difference in the way Zach approaches football.  Both Erik and Curtis are very organized, structured, motivated and genuinely care about each kid in their Camp.  The Camp and the individual instruction from both Erik and Curtis have been fantastic.  These are the guys you want training your son.
